Premier Coal Seam Gas Producer
The development of world-class coal seam gas resources and LNG liquefaction facilities have created a global scale industry with lasting benefits for local communities and across the nation. Australia Pacific LNG consists of the exploration and development of gas resources in central and southwest Queensland within the Bowen and Surat basins, with nearby towns including Roma, Chinchilla and Miles. A 530km main export pipeline transports natural gas to the LNG liquefaction facility, located on Curtis Island, near Gladstone.
Upstream (operated by Origin)
- Origin is the largest gas producer and domestic gas supplier on the Australian east coast.
Liquefaction (operated by ConocoPhillips)
- Plant utilizes ConocoPhillips Optimized Cascade® LNG technology.
- Facility has two trains with total nameplate capacity of 9.0 MTPA.
- Operations began in 2015.
Other key facts
- Ownership is ConocoPhillips (47.5%), Origin Energy (27.5%) and Sinopec (25%).
- Long-term LNG sales and purchase agreements in place with Sinopec (7.6 MTPA) and Kansai Electric (1.0 MTPA).
- Remaining uncontracted capacity is sold in the spot market.
- 1000th cargo was successfully shipped in April 2024.

Australia Pacific LNG
APLNG is Australia's largest producer of natural gas, supplying Queensland's domestic gas market, as well as processing natural gas into liquefied natural gas to meet growing export demand. ConocoPhillips owns 47.5 percent of APLNG’s 9.0 MTPA capacity.
